Unique PickMeApp ID

Each PickMeApp downloaded directly from a PickMeApp site receives an unique PickMeApp ID. Only those PickMeApp installations that have their unique PickMeApp generated by the PickMeApp site are valid applications. Only those installations can be registered, request support, receive updates, and enjoy many other features available for registered users.

Unfortunately some users have obtained PickMeApp tool from unsupported sources.

Those users may find their PickMeApp application lacks valid PickMeApp ID or their PickMeApp ID is already in use.

We ask users who want to recover their unique PickMeApp ID to login to their  PickMeApp account and re-download PickMeApp again.

Currently there is no PickMeApp version 0.6.3.2

It seems you have downloaded PickMeApp Light version 0.6.3.2 from pickmeapp.org site.

PickMeApp Light is about 50% of a full PickMeApp functionality.
PickMeApp Light captures and saves installed programs as single executable installation.
You may use this installation package to re-install your program on another PC without PickMeApp usage by coping  and running this executable on a destination PC. The setup will guide you through reinstallation process.

We are going to publish a simple PickMeApp Light tutorial in a few days.

To have a full PickMeApp  functionality  you need to registry and download PickMeApp from pickmeapp.com site.

A full version of PickMeApp Application Manager allows you:

  1. Select and capture many programs at once
  2. Select and reinstall  many captured programs at once
  3. Create a single executable installation for several programs at once
  4. Select and install  many new programs at once.
  5. Manage separate profiles for different captured programs and new installations.
  6. Receive automatic updates.
  7. Submit request and receive online support.

Note: Currently there is no difference between PickMeApp and PickMeApp Light in supported applications.

Hi there - hope you can help.

Some background. I'm in the process of capturing applications from old laptop running Windows XP and deploying them onto my PC that runs Windows 7. I'm obviously doing it mostly right as I have managed to successfully capture and deploy some applications. However, I have one that is giving me issues.

The application in question is a Dungeons and Dragons character builder. This was an application available to subscribers from the Wizards of the Coast website - it was a downloadable program so never existed on disc. Every month for many months the program was updated with new content. Wizards then stopped supporting the character builder, so I'm not in a position to be able to re-download it from their website even though I still subscribe to the service.

I can capture the Character Builder from the laptop, and when I deploy it on my Windows 7 PC it seems to work. I get the message Pickmeapp "Character Builder has been successfully deployed". When I try and open the application the initial screen appears, but when I click on "launch character builder" I receive a message from Windows that says: Character Builder has stopped working, and an option to "Check online for a solution and close the program" or simply "close the program".

If I view the problem details I get this information:

Description:
Stopped working

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: CharacterBuilder.exe
Application Version: 1.0.150.0
Application Timestamp: 4cada679
Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.18229
Fault Module Timestamp: 51fb1116
Exception Code: e0434f4d
Exception Offset: 0000c41f
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057

Can you shed any light on what might be going wrong?

One thing to add: when I open Pickmeapp on my XP laptop and look at the list of applications, I am given an option to REPAIR the character builder. When I click on that I am faced with the InstallShield for the character builder. I haven't gone any further than that, because I'm frightened that following through the process might result in a loss of data - specifically all the monthly updates to the character builder I have installed over the years.

I don't really understand what the REPAIR option does, and so haven't used it. The character builder certainly *does* work on the laptop if I try to run it on there, so it's not broken in that regard.

Any help or insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Neil.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with PickMeApp.

At first glance it seems that this version of  D&D Character Builder does not support Windows 7.

Also probably some program's resources were not captured by PickMeApp.
As work around try to use an experimental feature
"Capture and Install with current settings"

We will try to reproduce problem in our lab and let you know the results of our investigation.

Repair feature tries to re-build some of the component references. It needs access to the original installation scripts. Some programs keep those scripts after installation.
