Install, update, run, fully stop and uninstall Windows programs from one free application.
An uninstaller helps remove software. A package manager helps install and update it. PickMeApp Installer brings these everyday tasks together with application launching and stopping, in a graphical interface. No PickMeApp license is required.
Need to remove unwanted programs?
PickMeApp Installer can remove selected programs in a batch by running their own uninstallers. Its Guess Silent Uninstallation setting attempts to identify a quiet uninstall command. Some programs still require interaction; silent removal is not guaranteed for every application. See uninstall instructions.
This is different from scanning for leftover files and registry entries, forcing removal of a broken installation, or recording installation changes. Those are reasons to consider a dedicated uninstaller.
| Tool | Cost model | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| PickMeApp Installer | Free | Batch removal using programs' own uninstallers, with quiet-command detection. Also installs, updates, launches and stops programs. |
| Revo Uninstaller Free / Pro | Free edition; paid Pro | Free includes leftover scanning. Pro adds Quick/Multiple Uninstall, Forced Uninstall and real-time installation monitoring. |
| Geek Uninstaller | Free for personal use; paid Pro option | Portable removal, leftover scanning and Force Removal. The paid Pro offering, Uninstall Tool, adds batch removal and installation monitoring. |
| Bulk Crap Uninstaller (BCU) | Free and open source | Bulk and quiet uninstallation, leftover cleanup and forced removal. A free alternative when removal automation is the main task. |
| IObit Uninstaller | Free edition; paid Pro | The free edition advertises batch uninstall and residual-file cleanup. Additional capabilities depend on the edition. |
Several free tools offer batch uninstall. Installer brings removal together with installing, updating and controlling the programs you keep; specialist uninstallers focus on removal and cleanup.
Prefer package-based software management?
| Tool | Approach | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| PickMeApp Installer — free | A graphical view of installed programs and your own EXE/MSI installers, local or remote collections, and the built-in PickMeApp Collection. Collection maps support HTTP/HTTPS, FTP and file:// locations. | You want to select programs visually, install available updates, run or stop applications, and remove unwanted programs in the same tool. |
| WinGet — free | Microsoft's command-line package manager for discovering, installing, upgrading and removing applications. | You want command-driven or scripted Windows software management. WinGet also supports silent removal and removing applications installed outside WinGet. |
| Chocolatey — open-source CLI plus paid editions | Package-based installation, upgrades and removal, using command-line workflows. Chocolatey GUI also provides a graphical interface. | You want repeatable package-based setup, scripts or your own package sources. Paid editions add further management capabilities. |
WinGet and Chocolatey suit package-based workflows and scripting. Chocolatey GUI also offers a graphical interface. Installer combines setup-file management with a view of installed applications and their running components.
Want to set up your PC with popular free software?
Installer includes the PickMeApp Collection, a ready-to-use Web Profile of popular free applications. Select the programs you need and let PickMeApp download and install them, using silent installation where supported. You can also select several packages to install in one batch.
Explore the built-in collection · Installation instructions.
Already have the EXE or MSI you want to install?
Give Installer the path to the setup file or import it from a download URL. You can use the vendor's original installer without waiting for a community-catalog package or first writing a package definition. PickMeApp attempts to identify silent installation commands for supported installer types.
WinGet also supports local manifests, and Chocolatey supports custom packages and private sources. Installer offers a different starting point: import your existing setup file directly. See importing packages and creating profiles.
Want your own collection, online or offline?
Keep installers on your PC, a USB drive or an accessible network share. Web Profile collection maps support HTTP/HTTPS, FTP and file://. For offline use, keep the map, descriptors and referenced installer files locally. Supported package formats include MSI, EXE, PAD, TAD and TAP.
Build your own application collection · Manage selected packages.
Need to know what occupies your disk space?
Look beyond the size listed in Windows: Installer shows application-size estimates together with hidden installation-cache size, helping you understand the application's disk footprint before deciding what to keep or remove.
View application details and Cache Size.
Closed the window, but the program is still running?
Installer identifies the application's executables and services and shows which components are running. Choose individual executables to start or stop, or use Total Stop to stop the selected application's processes and services together. Save your work before stopping an application.
Run and stop application components.
Want to keep installed programs up to date?
Use newer packages available in your collections to update installed applications. In Installer, you choose and start installation or updates yourself. Automatic installation and updates from a profile, command-line automation and InstallShare synchronization are Pro features, not Installer features.
Update an application · See what Pro adds.
For a short tour of Installer's everyday uses, see the Installer Overview. Thinking about moving to another PC? You can also request a transferability report; capturing installed applications is a separate Pro/Light capability.
Choose Installer for free, visual, everyday application management. Consider a specialist uninstaller for deeper removal tasks, or WinGet and Chocolatey for a package-based automation workflow.
